Leela Madan
Owner and Patent Attorney, Your IP Attorney®
Leela has a Bachelor’s of Science (B.S.) in Chemistry & Mathematics and is a licensed Patent Attorney with extensive experience in patent prosecution, specifically in chemistry, as well as various other types of engineering and technologies. She also has extensive experience with U.S. trademark practices, including obtaining trademark registrations, as well as defending Opposition and Cancellation proceedings, conducting regular policing to identify infringers, as well as prosecuting matters before the U.S. Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB).
Leela specializes in working with business owners to not only identify and protect their intellectual property but also to use their IP as a tool to grow their business through licensing. She works with business owners and entities of all sizes, ranging from solo practitioners to large corporations.
With 15 years of progressive legal experience, Leela’s professional experience includes patent work in the upstream oil and gas industry (e.g., patents for drilling muds, downhole tools, and hydraulic fracturing), as well as several other technologies, including media, entertainment, consumer goods (e.g., cosmetics, textiles, wineries/breweries, foods, nutritional supplements, etc.), and a specialty in trademark selection, registration, and protection.
Prior to starting her own practice, Leela worked for a mid-sized boutique IP firm in Houston, Texas as a patent attorney, and then for a large general practice firm as the lead intellectual property attorney.
When she’s not running the law firm or networking, Leela can be found in nature either hiking or mountain biking. She also enjoys fitness & nutrition, watching sports, and going on adventures with her pup, Asha.

Jeffrey L. Streets
Patent Attorney
Jeff Streets has a Bachelor’s of Science (B.S.) in Chemical Engineering, a Master’s degree in Business Administration (M.B.A.), and a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the University of Houston Law Center.
After several years in industry, Jeff now has nearly 32 years of experience focused solely on helping inventors and their companies patent their most valuable technological developments.
Over his career as a patent attorney, he has guided numerous clients through the process of preparing and filing patent applications and then diligently advocating for the patentability of their inventions before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). He works closely with his clients to secure patents in such diverse technologies as computer systems, chemical and electrochemical processes, oil field tools and processes, novel chemical formulations and compositions, plant and horticultural devices, software, algorithms, clothing/textiles, cosmetics, and a wide variety of mechanical devices and widgets.
Jeff has experience in all aspects of US patent office practice, including Track One accelerated examination, After Final Consideration pilot program, Appeals before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, and the handling of Abstract Idea rejections asserted against software claims.
In his spare time, Jeff is an avid runner who has completed the Chevron Houston Marathon 13 times and he also enjoys spending time with his friends and family.

Zian Cheng
Associate IP Attorney
Zian is a licensed Texas attorney and graduate of South Texas College of Law Houston who received his Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Political Science and a minor in Media Arts from the University of South Carolina. In law school, Zian was a student representative for the Intellectual Property and Technology Law Society, Historian for the Asian Pacific American Law Student Association. He was also an avid pro bono worker, earning special recognition and an award for his many hours of service.
Born and raised in South Carolina, Zian moved to Houston, Texas in 2019 to pursue law and obtained his Juris Doctor (J.D.) in 2022. Prior to law school, Zian spent time as a campaign associate for the Attorney General’s office. As a law student, Zian was part of the Randall O. Sorrels Legal Trademark Clinic where he earnestly consulted, advised, and prepared trademark applications for several business owners. As a freelance artist himself and legal professional, Zian is passionate about the field of intellectual property and protecting the intellectual property rights of others.
In his free time, Zian enjoys expanding his skills in various fields and topics. Zian is also an assistant jury consultant that aids in the unique voir dire process by providing research and advice to other attorneys in the midst of trial in order to select favorable jurors, resulting in verdicts as high as $62.5 million dollars.

Treana Hebert
Office Manager
Treana is a proud graduate of the University of Houston (Go Coogs!) who received a Bachelor’s of Science (B.S.) in Political Science and another Bachelor’s of Science (B.S.) in Public Relations. As an active UH student, she served on the Homecoming Board, RHA Hall Council, and was a member of multiple other organizations. Most notably, for three years, Treana was a welcoming face to incoming students as a member of the extended orientation program and is now the first welcoming face and voice clients meet at Madan Law PLLC.
Although she is not a licensed attorney, she hopes to begin law school within the next two years with the intention of jointly pursuing her Master’s degree in Business Administration (M.B.A.). Currently, Treana has a strong interest in pursuing entertainment law, but she also has an interest in practicing intellectual property litigation and hopes to find the best fit for herself. For now, she is happy helping clients protect their intellectual property rights and learning more about the intellectual property field.
When Treana is not working, she enjoys exploring Houston’s hidden gems with her dog, Sadie, reading, and tapping into her creativity through painting, drawing, and graphic design. Mostly, she finds a thrill in meeting new people, especially if they have similar interests, so you can find her in groups such as UH Young Alumni Association, and book clubs!
