UFC president Dana White announced his creation of “Fight Island” where as the name suggests, fights will be held on a private island, as a way to circumvent Coronavirus restrictions in the United States. Comedian John Oliver on “Last Week Tonight With John Oliver,” took the opportunity to point out that White missed out on an opportune moment to trademark “UFSEA.” Shortly after, White and his legal team filed for “UFSEA” for mixed martial arts events and a clothing brand on an intent to use basis. White is quoted as saying “Thanks, John Oliver. I’m not giving you a cut either.” John Oliver responded by saying “I think Dana White is looking for a fight here, in fact, I’m certain of it. He’s literally trademarked the phrase ‘Dana White Lookin’ For A Fight.’” UFC has many trademarks that been applied for but have not registered.
The mark “UFSEA” itself has not been approved yet but will be assigned to an examiner within three months.
